THE GROUP
Founded in 2003, the Scottish based A Cappella Vocal Quartet Vocal
Fusion is already being hailed as one of the most
exciting vocal ensembles in the UK.
Formed by four graduates of The Royal Scottish Academy of Music
and Drama, the quartet has a wide and impressive concert history
including The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, The National Gallery of
Scotland, The Royal Aboyne Festival, The Glasgow ‘Summerfest’
as well as workshops in London and charity concerts for The Leukaemia
Research Fund and Sargent Cancer Care UK.
The quartet has developed a special reputation for distinctly personal
performances, as well as encompassing a wide variety of repertoire
to suit all occasions and has received international recognition
thanks to the world-renowned Baritone Sir Thomas Allen, who now
supports the group as ‘Honorary Patron’.
Vocal Fusion has also received royal support from
HRH The Prince of Wales who invited them to perform exclusively
for a VIP Arts event at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh.
2006 has seen a continuation of the quartet’s wedding and
corporate bookings, a busy concert schedule including an exclusive
performance for JK Rowling at Stirling Castle for MSS Scotland and
their ever-increasing festival and workshop invitations.
The quartet is also very committed to the continuation of their
charity concerts which have to date raised over £2000.00.
They will return to Chesterfield for another performance in aid
of Leukaemia Research UK in March of next year.
Plans are now underway for their third disc in 2007 after the success
of their second studio album which received critical acclaim. Recent
engagements include The Brechin Arts Festival and The Paisley Choral
Festival while future performances include: a Christmas Recital
for Kilmardinny House Concert Series, a guest performance for Carers
Scotland (Glasgow), a recital tour of the South-West of England
and an invitation to tour Kenya next Summer.
THE SINGERS
Based at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, the four
students: Rowan Hellier, Louise Collett,
Dominic Peckham and Douglas
Nairne currently study Bachelor of Music Degrees in Singing
and regularly meet as a quartet as well as singing within the Academy
Early Music Singers, The Academy Choir and The Academy Chamber Choir.
