ALASTAIR - Tenor

Alastair is currently in his third year of the BMus course at the Royal Academy of Music and Drama, studying with George Gordon and receiving regular lessons from Peter Wilson. His musical career started at the early age of 7, being the youngest boy ever admitted to the world-renowned Quirister's choir of Winchester College. While with this choir and studying under Hilary Jones (author of 'Giving Voice') he had numerous solo performances in venues such Lambeth Palace, Notre Dame and St James' Palace.

Alastair has performed in professional productions of Donizetti's 'L'Elisir d'amore' (QE II Theatre, Winchester), Puccini's 'Turandot' (UK premiere of the Berio final scene, Dorset Opera), and his first operatic role in Mozart's 'The Marriage of Figaro' (Layard Theatre, Canford). Other solo performances include Bach's 'Magnificat' (Glasgow Cathedral), Vaughan-Williams' 'Five Mystical Songs' (The Lighthouse, Poole), Bernstein's 'Wonderful Town' (Layard Theatre, Canford), and Bach's 'St Matthew's Passion' (Wessex Hall).

In 2007, Alastair had the privilege of being offered the position of Layclerk with the Glasgow University Chapel Choir and has been singing with the Chamber Choir of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama for two years now. Performances include Ravel's 'Daphnis et Chloe' with Ilan Volkov (Glasgow City Halls), and Finzi's 'Lo, the full final sacrifice' (Edinburgh Cathedral).

Recent and future engagements include: Prokofiev's 'The Love of Three Oranges' (New Athaneaum Theatre, Glasgow), Brahms' 'Neuesliebeslieder' (Glasgow Cathedral), Beethoven's '9th Symphony' and Elgar's 'The Musicmakers' (RSAMD Concert Hall).
