DOUGLAS - Baritone

Twenty
two year old Douglas was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife recently
graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
(RSAMD).
A member of the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCoS) Douglas
was their soloist in Torke’s ‘Book of Proverbs’.
He has toured Sweden and Chicago, as well as performing at
"The Last Night of the Proms" (BBC), and as part
of an international live broadcast of "The MTV Europe
Music Awards" with Christina Aguilera.

was a baritone soloist in Faure’s 'Requiem' with the
Ulster Youth Choir including a live performance on BBC Radio
Ulster . In 2004 he was invited to lead the National Anthem
at Scotland's televised home games, in the Autumn Series and
RBS 6 Nations Rugby Tournament.
Operatic roles include 'Cascada' (The Merry Widow), 'The Doctor'
(Macbeth), Carl Linden (Bitter Sweet) and 'Don Giovanni' (Don
Giovanni) with Fife Opera, 'Morales' (Carmen) with 'Opera
on a Shoestring'. and 'Dancairo' (Carmen) at Haddo House Opera.
He understudied 'Peleas', (Peleas et
Melisande) at the RSAMD, and sang the roles of 'Liberto' (L'Incoronazione
di Poppea), Narrator (The Vanishing Bridegroom), ‘Le
Surintendent des Plaisirs’ (Cendrillon). Douglas was
guest Baritone for The Ulster Orchestra and appeared at Edinburgh’s
Royal Lyceum Theatre for Britten’s ‘Curlew River’
for The Edinburgh International Festival. At just 22 he made
his debut with Scottish Opera in their recent production of
Carmen.
With the support of The Musicians Benevolent Fund and a Sir
James Caird Scholarship, 2006 sees Douglas embark on a Post
Graduate Course under the tuition of Stephen Robertson. In
November he will appear as Papageno in Fife Opera’s
Magic Flute. |
